Senior Accounting Analyst

L2 Defense is an SBA certified small business that provides training and logistics service support primarily to the Federal government.  L2 Defense is seeking a Senior Accounting Analyst to support its Finance operations activities.  The Senior Accounting Analyst will report to the Controller.  He/she will utilize their accounting and financial knowledge and experience to maintain daily accounting functions for the company. This position will ensure compliance with GAAP and government regulations.

Job Duties

The Senior Accounting Analyst will be responsible overall for ensuring that daily accounting operations AP, AR, labor charging and account analyst are consistently executed timely and accurately. Play a lead role in the monthly close process. 
Specific job responsibilities related to this accounting role include, but are not limited to:
  • Ensure adherence in the day-to-day accounting functions to the companies documented system of accounting policies and procedures; monitor and recommend improvements to the system of internal controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and FAR
  • Coordinate and/or performs daily accounting processes: AP voucher review and posting, AR invoice review to include monthly booked to billed analysis, setting up billings within the accounting system, generation and review of monthly project status reports, ensuring project expenses are accurately charged and allowable based on contractual terms and FAR regulations, distribution of the monthly project status reports to Project Management,  processing employee expense reports, ensure labor charging is compliant and accurate on a semi-monthly basis.
  • Coordinate and/or performs monthly closing processes: ensure monthly AP / AR and monthly recurring AJE’s are reviewed in a timely manner and posted. Reviewing monthly reports to identifying any flux and/or significant variances to budget amounts, engaging with Management to ensure timely and actionable reporting.
  • Preparation and/or review of GL reconciliations to include monthly bank accounts, AP & AR subsidiary ledgers and Unbilled AR account reconcile to the GL. Reviewing of Credit Card statements to GL accounts for timely booking of expenses. Also ensuring all GL accounts are reconciled and analyzed.
  • Ensuring the maintaining and monitoring of budget data reflected in the accounting system. Supporting the generation, analysis, and distribution of Monthly Financial Statements, Monthly Cashflow projections/forecast reporting and various other financial reports and analyses.
  • Works with Company management and external auditors to ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting, key support of the annual audit and various other interim audits.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with at least 5 years of relevant experience in the accounting field. 
  • Competency in utilizing Deltek Cost Point accounting software required.
  • Strong competency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite products with particular emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
  • Must possess excellent communication, technology, analytical and management skills. 
  • Good working knowledge and experience with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).  Federal Government contracting experience and FAR compliance is a major plus. 
  • Personal Qualities – Very detail oriented, energetic, self-motivator, great team player, desire to learn new things, positive attitude, and strong adaptability to change.  Able to work and manage multiple simultaneous projects.
Salary and Benefits
  • $80,000 - $90,000 per year based on years of experience and demonstrated skill level.
  • This is a full-time position with full L2 Defense benefits inclusive of Health Insurance and a 401k plan. 
Hybrid work schedule
  • This is a full-time position, requiring a minimum of 8 hours of work per workday.
  • This work can be performed on a hybrid schedule of at least 2 days per week work at L2’s corporate office the remainder other the week working remotely from home. L2 Defense Corporate office location: 12 Irondale Street, Suite 126, Middle River, MD 21220.
  • Regular travel is not anticipated for this position.
